Hey everyone! I'm really interested in starting my own vegetable garden and I'm located in Tulare County, Southern California. I have little to no experience with gardening, so I'm reaching out to see what veggies would be best to plant at this time. Any tips from locals or seasoned gardeners about suitable crops for this area or info on soil types would be super helpful! Thanks!

As a fellow newbie in Tulare County, I just bought seeds for this season! I'm going with tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, jalapeños, and poblanos. If I have room, I might even add some strawberries. I've heard peppers are great for beginners since they love the heat and can handle a bit of neglect. Good luck!
Also, how would you go about protecting the plants from animals and pests?
I live in Southern California too, and I grow greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach. They are perfect for smoothies! Just look at how great they turn out!
