I've got a crack in my basement wall that's causing some water to leak in, and I'm looking to tackle the repair myself to save on costs. I'm based in Alberta, Canada, and although I'm handy enough to do the digging, I need some advice on the most effective paint or product to use on the exterior of my foundation walls. I've come across a lot of conflicting information online, so I could really use some guidance here!

For the exterior, consider using an epoxy injection to repair the crack. After that, you can coat the walls with an asphalt-based coating and add dimple board to help channel water into a french drain. It's quite effective if you're doing an exterior fix!
You might want to check out a two-part expanding foam or epoxy that you can apply from the inside. It works wonders for stopping leaks. Just make sure you have a caulking gun since that's usually not included in the kit. Some of my customers have had success with it in the past!
To effectively waterproof your basement walls, first fill in the crack, then attach a waterproof membrane over the area. You can find lots of tutorials on Google or YouTube that can guide you through the process!
