Best Way to Attach Sandpaper for Plane Restoration Without Damaging My Surface?

I'm in the process of restoring a collection of hand planes and want to fine-tune their soles. I plan to use a granite surface plate along with sandpaper for this. My concern is, what adhesive can I use that will allow me to easily remove the sandpaper later without damaging the surface? I also have some glass on hand, but I'm worried I might not get the best results with that. Any suggestions?

I usually go for 3M Spray77. It's super easy to apply and when you’re done, it scrapes right off with a retractable razor blade! No hassle at all.

Really? I didn’t think Spray77 would come off that cleanly.

Just a heads up: once you put sandpaper on a surface plate and use cast iron on it, that plate won’t really be good for precision work anymore. I'd recommend looking for other solutions if you want to keep it pristine.

Ooh, that’s a solid point. Guess I need to find a way to use the glass without breaking it. This sounds like quite an adventure!
