Best Way to Create Wall Storage in a Cinder-Block Garage?

I'm looking to enhance my garage storage, as the pegboards left by the previous owners just aren't cutting it anymore. My plan is to install either OSB or tongue and groove pine boards mounted on furring strips to avoid building out full stud walls, saving about 3/4 of an inch around the edges. I'm considering sections that are 4 feet tall and 8 feet long, positioned a few feet off the floor. Since the garage is over 60 years old, there are already many holes in the cinder block from past fixes. I also plan to upgrade the electrical system in the future, so I want to make sure this setup won't interfere with that. I'd love to hear any thoughts on the best approach or if there's any pushback on my plan!

You might want to consider using 1/2" or 3/4" plywood instead of OSB. Plywood is sturdier, and you can screw storage items into it more securely without worrying about things tearing out. It could hold up better for the long haul!

But is plywood really more durable than OSB? I've heard mixed opinions on that.
