I recently discovered a hole in my basement concrete, which I've concluded is part of an ongoing rodent issue. After working on my deck, I noticed light coming through this hole that's about a couple of inches wide. My father-in-law suggested using concrete caulk, but I want to gather more opinions on effective methods to seal it up and prevent rodent access. Any advice would be appreciated!

That hole seems way too big for just caulk. Plus, rodents can gnaw through caulk fairly easily. One option you could consider is securing a board in front of the hole to act as a form, and then use hydraulic cement to fill it from the back. Just a thought; I'm not a pro, so take it with a grain of salt!
The easiest fix might be to use expanding foam. However, to make it more effective, you should add something like copper mesh inside the foam to prevent rodents from chewing through it. Stuff the mesh in the hole, then inject the foam to fill it up securely.
I second the expanding foam idea! Just make sure you mix in some metal or a strong mesh, like the copper mesh mentioned, so it deters any curious critters from chewing through.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you’d secure a board to concrete either. Maybe looking into a different method might save you some hassle.
