Best Way to Grow Dwarf Sunflowers: Pots or Direct Sowing?

Asked By SunnyGardener92 On

I'm planning to plant some dwarf sunflowers (helianthus annuus) and I'm wondering what's the best approach for growing them. Should I start them in smaller pots for germination and then transfer them to larger pots later? I'm completely new to gardening, so any tips would be appreciated!

Sunflowers usually thrive best when you plant them directly into the ground. I'm excited to start my own, but it's still pretty chilly where I am. I always put my dwarf sunflowers in the front of my house, and they look fantastic! So you might want to consider direct sowing if you have the right conditions.

I'm in NW Florida, and my soil is mostly sand, which isn't great for planting directly. I do everything in containers!
