Best Way to Inject Hydrogen Peroxide or Bleach into a Well Water System?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on setting up an injection port for either hydrogen peroxide or bleach in my home water system. I want to place it after the well pump but before the pressure tank. My goal is to make it easy to access so I can sanitize the water once or twice a year without spending a fortune on a chemical injection system. Any tips or recommendations would be much appreciated!

Before you jump into any treatment, consider talking to a well company. They can really pinpoint what's going on with your water supply. Why the need to sanitize so often? Usually, sanitization is needed post-drilling. And, if you're having consistent contamination issues, a high-quality filtration system with reverse osmosis might be a better investment. Trust me, finding the source of contamination is key. I have an artesian well that tests clean yearly, but my daughter’s surface well requires multiple filters due to organic material. It’s worth getting a pro opinion on your specific situation!

Thanks for the advice! The house had been vacant for a while, and even with tests coming back okay, there’s just a hint of discoloration and odd smells at times. I'm still exploring options and appreciate your insights!

I wouldn't jump into adding chemicals just yet. If your water has an egg smell, it might be worth swapping out the sacrificial rod in your hot water heater. You can also shock your well easily once a year — there are tons of tutorials online. Daily use should keep things fairly clean, so it's rarely necessary to treat more often than that.

Instead of an injection system, consider a simple threaded cap that lets you pour in the treatment directly. It's a passive method and works fine if you just need it occasionally. Just remember, most treatments are usually done after the pump.
