Best Way to Insulate Bathroom Fan Ducts?

Asked By CraftyCat88 On

I'm dealing with some moisture issues in my attic and suspect it might be related to my bathroom fans. Currently, they use uninsulated flexible ductwork, and I'm considering switching to rigid duct and adding insulation. I'm looking to minimize the heat transfer into the attic. I found an insulated sleeve that seems quite pricey. Is there a better or more affordable option out there?

Check out duct wrap products – I found one at Home Depot that’s R-6 insulation and covers around 60 square feet. Also, Reflectix makes bubble foil insulation that can be used for duct wrap. If you're looking for convenience, replacing your duct with insulated duct might be the simplest option. Here’s a link to one I found that's flexible and well-insulated!

I searched for the sleeve but couldn't find it. The duct wrap you mentioned sounds promising; I'll definitely consider cutting it to fit my ducts!

You can use foil-wrapped insulation blankets that work well for any shape or size of duct. They're flexible and provide good coverage without needing rigid duct.
