Best Way to Joint 1/2″ Stock Planks End-to-End?

I'm working with some 5ft long, 5" wide, and 1/2" thick planks and want to join them end-to-end to create boards that total 8 feet in length. Since these planks will be decorative and won't bear weight, I'm looking for the best type of joint that would work. I want to make sure it won't sag or collapse when hung horizontally from both ends.

Using biscuits with carpenter glue is a super simple solution that should work great for your needs! Just be sure the thickness of the 1/2" material won't be an issue.

I was a bit worried about the thinness for biscuits, but I’ll definitely give it a shot!

Have you considered a scarf joint? It's a common choice for joining lengths like this. Check out this link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarf_joint for more info.

Absolutely, scarf joints are definitely a good method! I recommend it too.
