I'm looking for advice on how to properly mount heavy fixtures like an IKEA Kungsfors on a stud behind drywall. I've already drilled into the stud, but I've been struggling with the different types of anchors and screws I purchased, including toggle bolts and butterfly anchors. These anchors just won't fit into the stud hole, even when I follow the recommended drill sizes. I need some help to finish this project because I want to ensure the setup can hold at least 50 lbs on each level.

When it comes to mounting heavy fixtures, you actually don't need to use anchors if you're drilling into a stud. Anchors are meant for drywall without a stud. Just use a good quality screw and drill it directly into the stud. You should be good to go!
So, just to clarify, you’re saying I can just screw into the stud directly? What kind of screw would be best? I've heard self-drilling screws are good, but some suggest using a wooden block as a suspension rail. How much weight can a metal screw typically hold?
