Best Way to Mount Things on Arizona Stucco Walls?

I've recently bought a home in Arizona and I'm struggling with how to securely mount items on the outdoor stucco walls. What type of anchors work best for this kind of surface? I've tried a few options, but nothing seems to hold up well. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you're looking for other options, another method is to drill holes and use epoxy anchors. Wedge or expanding type anchors can work if they're long enough to reach the cinder block underneath. For hollow cinder blocks, toggle bolt anchors might do the trick. Just adjust your approach based on what’s behind the stucco!

Thanks for the tips! I'm not entirely sure what's behind the stucco. I think I might have to do a bit of digging to figure it out.

I've had success using Tapcons, which are blue screws designed for concrete. You can find them at most hardware stores, and they usually come with a masonry bit for pre-drilling. Just make sure you use a hammer drill since it makes the job a lot easier. Keep in mind the construction behind your stucco too—if it’s over concrete block, then these are perfect. Otherwise, you might want to double-check what’s behind your walls.

Before you start drilling, make sure to identify whether your walls are actually stucco or EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System). That can change your approach significantly! If it's EIFS, you might need more specific anchors for those materials.
