Best Way to Secure Heavy Items to Cinderblock Walls?

I'm looking to hang a pretty heavy wall cabinet, some hefty flower pots, and a hammock on a cinderblock wall. I'm wondering if the following plan will work well:

1. Drill a hole into the cinder block, fill it with cement, and let it cure for a week before doing anything else.
2. After that, drill a new hole and insert a bolt anchor.

Any advice on whether this will provide a strong enough hold? I've had trouble finding direct answers online. Just a heads up, the cinderblocks here in South America are quite thin, and masonry bolts are pretty expensive!

I think the cement part could be tricky. If the cement flows downwards, you might lose some effectiveness. Generally, multiple toggle bolts could hold your cabinet and flower pots just fine. However, for the hammock, you might need a different approach. Is there access to the other side of the wall? If so, drilling through could help you secure it better!

Using a wooden post might be a smart move. You could attach that to the wall with masonry toggle bolts, then hang your items from the post instead!

Yeah, just to add, those cinderblocks are often closed on one side, so your cement won't go too far down. A toggle bolt might not be strong enough depending on how heavy your items are.

Honestly, if you can, try to avoid using just cement. That may not hold over time. Instead, I’d recommend getting some proper masonry anchors. They might be expensive, but they’ll give you the security you need for those heavy items.

Definitely agree. Spending a bit more on good anchors will save you headaches down the line! It's worth it for the safety.
