Best Way to Secure My DIY Shelf?

Asked By User8943*#x On

I'm a total newbie and just built a shelf to utilize six existing holes in my tiles. I've attached a couple of pictures for reference. In my build, I added a horizontal board where I marked two red crosses in the images. My plan was to use long screws and washers to mount the shelf on the wall. However, now I'm second-guessing whether this method will provide enough support. Should I stick with my original plan, or is there a better approach for anchoring this shelf? Thanks for any advice!

I suggest using cabinet screws that come with a flat, washer-like head for better grip. Installing two horizontal boards—one on the top and one on the bottom—will really strengthen your setup. Secure it with four screws: two on the top board and two on the bottom. Aim to screw into wall studs or a backing for durability.
