Best Way to Spray Paint Trim and Doors Without Messing Up the Floors?

I'm currently working on my basement renovation, which includes finished drywall and painted ceilings, but I haven't installed any trim or doors yet. I'm considering using pre-primed trim and doors, and I want to paint them in place to achieve a professional look. My plan is to lay down masking paper under the base trim before installation and then cover the floors with heavy protective paper before spraying. I aim to apply two light spray coats for even coverage without creating too much overspray. Does this approach sound effective for protecting the floors and ensuring the trim and doors look great?

I’d definitely recommend doing it your way! Installing the trim first and then spraying is common in new construction. You've got the right idea with the masking paper and heavy-duty floor protection. Just ensure you have good ventilation and maybe even try a practice piece to get the hang of your spray technique.

It sounds like a solid plan! Spraying after installing the trim helps achieve that seamless look, especially over any filled holes or caulk lines. Just make sure the protective paper is secured well to avoid any mishaps during spraying. If you're careful with your application, you should get great coverage without too much overspray.
