Best Ways to Add Humidity to My Apartment in Winter?

Hey everyone! I live in a pretty dry place during the winter months and I'm thinking about how to keep my apartment more humid. I would love to add a humidifier to my HVAC system, but since I live in an apartment, that's not really an option. What are some effective ways to maintain humidity throughout my whole place? Should I just get a bunch of humidifiers?

Does your HVAC system have a single air intake point? You could place a humidifier there for better distribution. But if you have radiators, that might indicate you can't modify your HVAC setup.

A stand-alone floor humidifier is a good choice. Just remember to use distilled water! If you use tap water, especially if it’s hard, you might end up with a pesky white residue around the unit.

Check out this YouTube video by Technology Connections for tips! An evaporative humidifier is the way to go, not a cool mist one. I have a large one set up near a cold air return in my two-story house, and it works well. They self-regulate, adding more moisture when the air is dry and less when it's humid. Much better than having to adjust a cool mist one all the time!

That’s great info! How often do you have to refill yours?

You definitely don't need a bunch of humidifiers. Just one properly sized one can do the trick! It's actually pretty easy to add humidity to your home. If you're in a pinch, boiling water on the stove is a quick way to help out too.
