I'm new to using hand tools and I'm curious about how you all clean your tools after using them. What do you recommend for rust prevention and maintenance? I've seen Lie Nielsen suggests jojoba oil, and I'm wondering if just wiping them down with a microfiber cloth is enough. Also, I have a tub of Johnson's paste wax that I use for my power tools – could that work too?

Cleaning is super easy! Just use a cloth with a light amount of oil. It's also a good idea to keep your tools in a box or tool chest to keep the dust off. That helps maintain their appearance too!
I just wipe my tools down with an oily rag after I'm done. While jojoba or camellia oil are great options, I generally use mineral oil and it works just fine for me. Keep it simple!
I actually found a stash of paper shredder lubricant years ago, and I've been using it for everything since then! As for oil, you can really use almost any type. Jojoba oil is pretty affordable and a small bottle lasts forever. I'd totally switch to it once I run out of my current stash!

Absolutely! Storing them properly makes a huge difference. Dust can really ruin the finish.
