I'm looking for a way to control two outlets with a single light switch in my rental apartment without doing any hardwiring. Currently, one switch operates one outlet, and I want to connect it so it can also control a lamp plugged into another outlet. I've seen a product on Amazon called Switcheroo, which lets you do this but at $80 for a two-pack, it's not budget-friendly since I need several for different rooms. I'm not interested in remote controls or running extension cords. If anyone has cost-effective alternatives, I'd really appreciate your input! Thanks in advance!

One of the cheapest solutions could be using smart light bulbs alongside a smart switch. You could go for something like Philips Hue or even cheaper options from brands like Xiaomi. They let you control your light fixtures via an app or voice commands, which could be pretty handy!
While Philips Hue might come to mind, you might also want to check out Lutron Caseta. It’s a bit pricier, but it offers various options for both wired and wireless controls, making it a solid investment for long-term use. Definitely worth considering!
Typically, a switch only controls half of the receptacle. However, if you’re comfortable with a little bit of modification, it's usually quite easy to wire the switch to power both outlets. That said, I think you're looking for something more flexible given your current setup.
