Hey everyone! I'm trying to create a custom carrying case for a unique contraption I made. I found an EVA hard case that's pretty much the right size, but it's a couple of inches larger on all sides. I tried using pick & pluck foam, but it turned out to be flimsy and doesn't offer much protection. I might not have used it right or maybe I bought the wrong type. I'm looking for suggestions to fill the empty space. I thought about using plastic or Velcro dividers for a central rectangle, but those don't seem sturdy enough. Also, the lid of the case is completely empty except for a net. Any creative ideas? Thanks a lot!

One unconventional approach is to put your contraption in a plastic bag and fill the space with low-expansion insulation foam, like the kind used for windows and doors. Just make sure it doesn’t expand too much, or it can get messy!
You might want to check out kaizen foam. It's a firmer option that's often used for tool and equipment storage. It can be a bit pricier because you might need to buy some cutting tools too, but the quality could be worth the investment for your project!
Have you thought about using swim boards? They’re made from a similar material to pool noodles, so they're not as soft as memory foam, yet they're less messy than regular Styrofoam. Just cut them to shape, and they should fit well!
