I'm diving into making some patio furniture using cedar, and I've run into a bit of a snag. I'm drilling pocket holes for the screws, but I'm unsure about what to use to fill them afterward. I've searched for cedar fill options and come up empty. Do most folks just go with a hardwood filler, or maybe use some cedar sawdust mixed with glue or epoxy? I'm looking for tips on what gives the best finish and looks nice too. Any advice would be appreciated!

One option is to make some 3/8" plugs out of cedar and flush cut them to fit the pocket holes. This can give you a seamless look and maintain that cedar vibe! Just make sure to sand it down well so it’s flush with the surface.
I try to place pocket holes where they won’t be visible on outdoor furniture. This makes it easier to take them apart for repairs later on. Plus, hidden screws mean a cleaner look!
You could also fill them with a different type of wood. Sometimes the contrast in color or grain can actually look pretty cool and add some character to your piece. Just something to consider!
Definitely! A little contrast can really make a project stand out.

That makes a lot of sense! I’ll definitely keep that in mind while planning my layout.
