Best Ways to Flatten a 21″ Wide Live Edge Slab?

I'm working on a 5' x 21" x 3" live edge slab that I've prepared for a coffee table, but I just noticed it twists about an inch. I've checked around for local woodworking shops, but none have a planer that can handle such a wide piece. I'd really prefer not to cut the slab and splice it back together. What are some effective methods I can use to flatten this slab?

You might also find a door shop nearby. They often have wide belt sanders that can save you a ton of time. It’s worth asking around!

If you're looking for a solution, consider building a router sled. It’s a fantastic way to flatten larger surfaces and pretty straightforward to make yourself! Just make sure to grab a big 2" planer bit to get the job done quickly.

Using a hand plane could be your best bet, especially for a one-off project like this. It may sound like a lot of work, but it actually isn't too difficult, and it really helps build your skills. Plus, a hand plane can handle any size board, which is a bonus!
