I've just installed a small pergola to provide some shade for my Blackstone grill, and the roof is solid. I'm looking to attach shade cloth on three sides for extra protection from the sun. What are the best methods to do this? Should I use staples, or is there a better fastening system?

I've seen people treat shade cloth like a shower curtain. They use tension rods and install grommet holes in the cloth to adjust it as needed. Stapling works just fine with stainless steel staples, too!
I used a grommet punch set to attach shade cloth over my outdoor area, and two years later, it’s still holding strong!

Stainless steel staples work great for hanging shade cloth. They’re durable and should last for a while without rusting.
