Hey everyone! Last year, I struggled with growing cucumbers, but this season is looking promising, and I'm excited for a decent harvest! I have two questions: how do you know when to pick cucumbers, and what delicious recipes do you make with them - like juices or pickles? Thanks for your advice!

It really depends on the cucumber variety you're growing. Smaller ones are better for pickling. I also have a neat cucumber muffin recipe that utilizes excess cucumbers! Cucumber salad is a favorite too, and my dog loves snacking on them! Just remember to harvest them before they get too big - they turn bitter when overgrown. Aim for a non-yellow end to know when to pick!
I usually make refrigerator pickles because they're super simple! Just look up a recipe online, and you'll have some delicious pickles in no time. They're fantastic!
Cucumbers tend to ripen pretty quickly. If you leave them for too long, they can turn into pig feed overnight! For canning, is it just me, or do you need a lot of plants to make it worthwhile? How do folks handle big batches?
Cucumber relish is a hit at my house! Just make sure to pick them before they get too large. Usually, the seed packet will guide you on the best sizes for harvest.
I like making refrigerator pickles with zucchini instead. Not a huge fan of cucumbers myself!
