Best Ways to Mow a Steep Hill with a Ride-On Mower?

I recently moved to a place with a large hill in the backyard, measuring about 40-50 yards long and 20 yards wide. The slope seems to be around 30% to 40% at its steepest points. I'm able to mow most of it by going up and down, but I struggle at the steepest parts because my mower tends to roll back down or speeds up going downhill, causing the blades to disengage. I have a Cub Cadet LT50, and it seems like the previous owner had no issues, so I'm wondering what I might be doing wrong. Any advice for mowing something this steep with a ride-on mower would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly, if you’re struggling this much, it might be worth considering getting rid of the grass altogether. You could plant some low-maintenance bushes or native perennials instead. They can look pretty beautiful and save you a ton of hassle in the long run!

Yeah, I'm starting to think that's the best option! Thanks for the suggestion.
