Best Ways to Paint Outdoor Concrete Steps Without Chipping?

Asked By C0ncreteGuru88 On

I've tried painting my outdoor concrete step multiple times, but the paint always chips off within a month. I'm wondering if I should sand the existing paint completely off, clean the surface, apply a stabilizing solution, and then use a couple of coats of paint. Also, is there a recommended top coat that can provide extra protection?

Using an exterior-rated epoxy could be a game changer for your concrete step. It’s designed to withstand the elements and should hold up better than regular paint. Just make sure to prep the surface properly before applying it!

Is the epoxy good as a top coat for the painted surface too?
