Hey everyone! I recently bought a charming century-old home, but the beautiful tile house number that was originally attached has been removed during repainting by the previous owners. I see there are screws on the back of the number, but I can't reach them from the front, and it seems like the tiles were put on after they fixed the metal bracket to the house. My home's siding is wood shingle. Any ideas on how I can secure this house number back on? Here's a link to some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/RW1fj9P

You could also consider using a strong adhesive. Just apply some hot glue to secure it in place and give it some time to set. It’s a classic method that has worked for ages!
If you're unsure about where it was originally mounted, there’s a way to avoid breaking the tiles. Line it up and press it against your siding to leave marks where the screws are. Drill slightly bigger holes at those marks to ensure a flush fit. Depending on how permanent you want it, you can fill the holes with either silicone for temporary or PL premium for a more permanent fix before putting it back in place.
It looks like you'll probably have to remove a few of the tiles to reach the screw heads. After that, you can reinstall everything. Alternatively, you could cut the screws flush, then use keyhole hangers on the house and attach the house number that way. Just slip the screws into the hangers, and you’re good to go!
