I'm a teacher getting ready to close down my classroom for the year. Unfortunately, our principal had the bright idea of installing these heavy-duty hooks with clear plastic bags on each desk to enforce a no-phone policy, but they didn't work out. Now I need to take them off, and even my heavy-duty paint scraper isn't doing the job. Any suggestions on how to remove these stubborn hooks?

You should try heating up the adhesive backing! A hair dryer or a heat gun will work wonders. Just warm it up a bit, and they should peel off quite easily.
Hey, have you considered using floss or fishing line? You can cut through the clear plastic part from the adhesive. Once that’s done, removing the leftover glue from the desk is much simpler. I had a tough time with something similar, and I feel for you having to deal with a whole classroom full of these!
We have similar hooks at my job, and they usually have sticky backs that come off easily. You might want to put a little isopropyl alcohol on it while scraping—it could help loosen the adhesive. If they’re epoxied down, good luck, but hopefully, it's not that bad!
Thanks! I’ll give that a shot next time.
I never even thought of that! I’m definitely trying it on Monday. After breaking my scraper on one of them, I was about ready to give up!
