Best Ways to Remove Stubborn Adhesive Residue from Walls

I'm working on an old house that has various kids' decals with stubborn adhesive remnants stuck to the bedroom walls. I've managed to peel off most of the decals, but the adhesive marks still linger, and I want to get these walls ready for repainting. I've already tried some popular adhesive removers available in Australia like Goo Gone and others, but they haven't been effective against these shiny adhesive spots. Any tips or techniques for properly addressing these sticky marks before I repaint? Can I simply paint over them, or do I need to do more prep work?

A solid approach is to use a hairdryer on the adhesive and then scrape it off. Since you're going to sand the walls before painting anyway, make sure to do a thorough sanding where the residue is.

I’ve had success using a mixture of baking soda and liquid soap for sticker residue. It works pretty well but you have to be careful because it can damage the paint underneath. Considering you're going to repaint anyway, it might not be a big deal. Also, I sometimes spray a little texture over the area after cleaning before I paint to blend it in.
