I have a small crack in one of my basement walls that was previously checked by a professional, who confirmed it's not a structural problem. However, after some recent heavy rain, I've noticed water leaking through the crack for the first time in the last two years. It seems to leak only when a lot of water collects outside, right above the crack. What's the most effective way to fix this crack and prevent water from coming in? First, look into what’s happening outside your house. It sounds like you need to redirect that water away from your foundation. Consider creating a slope with soil to help move the water away, and check that your gutters are clear and your downspouts are extended away from the house. That should help a lot!

I noticed that area outside has flattened out recently. After these heavy rainfalls, water pooled up there and seeped in through that crack. I'm definitely thinking of sloping some dirt to help drain the water away. Also, I'm considering adding a new weed barrier since the one I have is pretty old. Would it be a bad idea to put epoxy or something similar in the crack?
