Best Ways to Set Up a Trellis for Container Grown Cucumbers?

I'm a beginner gardener living in an apartment, and I'm trying to grow cucumbers in a 10-gallon container on my patio. The vines have started to grow but are curling up because they can't find anything to cling to. I've tried different trellises, but they either need to be staked into the ground or are too narrow for my container. I'm worried that if the trellis is too far from the plant, the vines won't reach it. Does anyone have tips on setting up a trellis for cucumbers on a concrete patio?

You should consider using an A-frame trellis! You can stand it up and place your container right underneath. This way, the cucumbers have plenty of height to climb and should reach the top without any trouble.

But won't the squares be too big? I've seen some designs where one square takes up half the side of the container.

Last year, I used large tomato cages for my container cucumbers, and they worked pretty well! Just keep guiding the vines to wrap around the cage every couple of days; it takes a bit of encouragement, but it's worth it. They love climbing that way!

How exactly do you encourage them? I tried moving a vine gently, and it snapped off! ?
