Hey fellow gardeners! I'm thinking about treating myself to a potting table for my shed, and I have a question that might sound a bit silly. Where's the best place to keep the compost while I'm working at the table? Do you just leave the bags on the floor next to it, or is there a better way to store and access it? Also, if you have any tips, tricks, or things to avoid when it comes to potting benches, I'd love to hear those too! Thanks for the help!

Instead of buying a potting table, you could save some money and make one using old pallets. There are lots of tutorials out there, and it doesn’t look too complicated! As for compost, I don't have a shed or greenhouse, but I keep opened bags in a big plastic tub with a lid. It keeps everything clean and handy.
I saw a really neat potting table setup once—there was a grid as the potting surface and a big bucket underneath it. So if any soil spilled, it just fell right into the bucket to be reused. Super handy!
I usually keep my compost bags right next to the table. Just a heads up—depending on what you're potting, you might want different types of compost. If you have opened bags, try to keep them rolled or folded closed to prevent them from drying out. For any homemade mixes, I store leftovers in a plain container so I'm always wondering what gems might be in there next time!
I keep a green potting tray right on the table, with a bag of compost on the floor. Honestly, though, I often just use a large bowl to make things easier when I’m potting.

Using a bowl sounds smart! I might try that for my next potting session.
