Best Ways to Water Your Garden Without a Hose?

Hey everyone! I've got some raised garden beds in my backyard, but since I'm renting, I don't have a hose available. The last two summers, I've been running back and forth to my kitchen just to fill up bowls to water my plants, which is such a hassle. I'm hoping for some easier options for this summer. Any advice on how to water my plants without using a hose line? My landlord won't pay for one to be installed either.

Look into drip irrigation buckets! You can drill holes in the bottom of a bucket, and it’ll allow for slow watering over time. I’ve seen people use them for fruit trees and even set them up for garden beds. It’s a really low-effort solution once you set it up!

If you want something a bit simpler, using a watering can really might be the easiest option. It’s not perfect, but it saves you a lot of trips compared to filling bowls. I totally get it, though; I wish I had better suggestions too!

Consider using ollas! They’re clay pots that you can bury in your garden beds; just fill them with water and they slowly release it into the soil. It’s pretty effective! Also, check your kitchen faucet—if it’s threaded, you might be able to attach a hose directly to it for easier watering.
