Best Ways to Waterproof Plywood for Beer Caddies?

I'm making beer caddies out of 1/4 inch maple plywood for a friend's restaurant, and since they'll be holding cold beverages, I need advice on how to waterproof them effectively. I'm looking for cost-effective solutions since I'll be making a lot of them. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I haven’t used it specifically on plywood, but I often stabilize wood with resin. Cactus Juice with a vacuum process works wonders for durability, although I'm not sure how it translates for your beer caddies.

Epoxy is definitely the way to go! It's tough enough to handle the wear and tear from a busy restaurant environment. Just remember, it works best if you’re not dunking these in water all the time. You might want to consider how they’ll be cleaned, as harsh methods could ruin that waterproofing.

Totally agree! It’s better to encase the plywood in something solid; otherwise, moisture is going to ruin it fast.

Before applying epoxy, soaking the plywood in a few coats of tung oil adds an extra layer of protection, which is a good idea for maintaining durability.
