Best Winter Squash Varieties for Container Gardening?

I'm planning to give winter squash a try this year, but since I only grow in containers, I need some recommendations. I work with 10-gallon grow bags and I'm open to using a trellis to save space. What winter squash varieties would work well in this setup?

Isn’t it a bit late to start winter squash?

Not at all! Winter squash actually grows during summer and stores well into the winter, so you can still plant it now.

You definitely have options! There are plenty of bush varieties that will fit nicely in your containers. For instance, Burpee has a compact butternut squash called "Butterbush." If you're into spaghetti squash, check out "Goldetti" or "Tivoli." Also, don't overlook the bush acorn squash called "Bush Table Queen." They should all do well in grow bags!

I had no idea you could grow squash in bags! I’ll definitely look into these suggestions. My raised beds are only 48 sqft, so I thought squash was off the table.

You might want to try the Bush Delicata, too! It's another great bush type that doesn't take up much space and is super tasty.
