I'm diving into whether blown-in insulation or Batts is the better option for my attic. I've come across a lot of opinions suggesting that blown-in is superior since it covers more area, but the contractor I spoke to insists that Batts are the way to go because they don't settle over time. We're planning to remove the old blown-in insulation from our 1980s house and seal all the gaps. The quote I received was around $6,000, which seems a bit high, but I know Batts require more labor. I plan to get a few more quotes, but I'd like to hear what others think about what I should expect!

Blown insulation works well, just keep in mind it settles over time, which is why you add a bit extra when blowing it in. It’s generally much cheaper to install and the way to go, especially in a tight attic.
Thanks for the input! That makes sense.
