I'm curious about buying batteries on eBay, especially since counterfeits have become quite common. Has anyone had positive or negative experiences with genuine or fake batteries purchased from there?

I grabbed a battery that looked like the real deal and worked great for around $170. But after that, I just decided to go to Home Depot for my next purchases to avoid the risk of fakes.
If you're really worried about counterfeits, just bite the bullet and pay full price for authentic batteries. Otherwise, roll the dice if you're okay with the chance of messing up your tools.
You really have to do your homework when buying. There are some trustworthy sellers out there with good reviews, just watch out for those too-good-to-be-true deals. Also, I avoid sellers using stock photos or based in China. Always check if the images match by doing a quick search!
I once bought what were labeled as authentic batteries but turned out to be fake. At least the seller refunded me without too much hassle.
So far, I haven't run into any counterfeits, whether for batteries or tools. But I make sure to buy from sellers with tons of reviews and a 99%+ feedback rating. I also double-check the packaging photos to spot anything off.
