Hey everyone! I have a stator that I want to create, but I'm a bit low on materials. I'm using scrap cans to make the laminations, but they don't quite fit the dimensions I need. I'm designing based on an Axial Flux motor, and I'm curious if the teeth of the stator core need to be fully connected or if I can use independent pieces instead. Any thoughts?

I think what you're looking for is a segmented stator core. You can actually design it with independent pieces as long as you manage the magnetic circuit properly. Just be aware of potential gaps that might affect performance!
