Can a whole-house vacuum system be used for a wood shop?

Hey all! I'm a somewhat experienced woodworker, but I've never set up a dust collection system before. I'm curious if a whole-house vacuum system could effectively work in a wood shop. If it can, what should I consider incorporating to make it function well? I have a setup in mind that's similar to the one in the attached photo.

I think using a whole-house vacuum system might not be the best fit for a wood shop. The tubing and airflow on those systems are usually too restricted. A good dust collection setup needs larger tubing to handle the high volume of dust and debris we create in a workshop.
