Can Bleeding Hearts Thrive in Warmer Temperatures?

I'm excited to plant some bleeding hearts, but I've read that they usually need temperatures around 21°C to 24°C. I live in the Philippines, and I'm concerned about whether they can survive the warmer temperatures of 26°C to 30°C. Can these plants really grow and bloom in such weather?

They prefer partial to full shade and can handle temperatures above 30°C as long as they're regularly watered. So keep them hydrated and they should be okay!

I live in a place with extreme temperature variations, from -40°C to +40°C, and while bleeding hearts go dormant in the summer heat, they always come back in spring. They thrive best when temperatures are between 15°C and 25°C, so that’s something to consider for your area!

From my experience, they can manage if they don't get too much direct sunlight. I have a bunch of *Dicentra formosa* in a warmer zone, and they've survived hotter temps than I expected. Just make sure they’re in a spot where they can get some shade!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look for a shadier spot for them.

They usually start popping up in spring and then go dormant during the summer heat. If your winters are never below freezing, they might struggle, as they really need a cooler period to rest. Keep that in mind for their survival!

Bleeding hearts do enter a dormancy phase during winter, so while they might handle summer temperatures around 25°C to 30°C, they typically need a cooler winter to thrive. The warm winters in the Philippines might not suit them well, as they need that chilling period to bloom properly. So, just keep that in mind!
