I'm dealing with some seriously loud neighbors who let their kids stay up late playing on their devices, and it's making it hard for me to get a good night's sleep. We've asked them to close their windows since we can hear everything, but they just ignore us. I've gotten quotes for installing double glazing on two windows in my master bedroom and en-suite bathroom that face their house. I've also been advised to install double glazing for my sliding door, but that side faces the street, not them. My question is, will just getting the two windows facing the neighbors be enough to help reduce the noise? It's quite pricey, and the sliding door alone would cost around $4,000. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and have any advice?

It's true that labor costs a lot when it comes to installation. If you're in a really noisy area, maybe go for triple-pane windows instead of double. They really block out noise well. Also, if you can, heavy curtains might help with the sliding door. And if the neighbors won’t close their windows, have you thought about playing some loud classical music? It might just persuade them to keep it down!
I totally get where you’re coming from! I live near a busy street, and I put in dual pane windows - they made a huge difference! The noise level dropped significantly, and now my place feels calm. Just make sure you check the thickness of the glass; the two panes should be of different thicknesses to really help cancel out the sound better. Definitely worth the investment!
