I recently learned from my father-in-law, who is an OB-GYN, that he brought home some expired birth control pills and mentioned they might be beneficial for my plants. I'm curious if there's any truth to this. Does it actually work for house plants? Also, if it does, how should I use it? For example, do I need to dissolve a certain number of pills in water?

Honestly, I don’t think human birth control would do anything for plants. I’ve never heard of anyone using it in that way. Maybe your father-in-law is mixing up some info?
I wouldn’t want to introduce more hormones into the environment, especially if it’s not proven to help. Better safe than sorry when it comes to your plants and water quality!

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking! Maybe it’s just the iron supplement he’s recalling instead. I really wasn’t sure!
