Hey everyone! I need some advice on color matching paint. I'm trying to find out if Home Depot or Lowe's can color match based on the Sherwin-Williams info I found. I've got a specific green paint color (SW 7730 Forestwood) in mind, but Sherwin-Williams is a bit pricey for my project. I plan to call and ask them directly once I'm off work, but I thought I'd get your opinions first. I heard from someone that Home Depot requires a swatch, but the staff didn't seem too confident. Meanwhile, Lowe's mentioned they could match it as long as I have the color number. What do you all think?

Most of the big stores, including Lowe's and Home Depot, already have Sherwin-Williams codes in their systems. Matching colors should be a breeze for either place!
Definitely! You can usually get a swatch at a Sherwin-Williams store to help with the match. Both Home Depot and Lowe’s can use a laser scanner to get the color match sorted out pretty accurately. If you have the color code or name, it should be straightforward! Just a heads-up that if you're dealing with lighter colors, those can sometimes be trickier to match well.
You don't even need a swatch! Just providing the color code should do the trick; they can look it up right away.
Yes, they can match it, but just know the final color might look a little different when mixed with a generic paint base compared to Sherwin-Williams. That being said, it's just for some bookshelves, so it probably won't matter too much!
Exactly! I’m in the same boat—just doing some home projects so a close match will work just fine for me.
Absolutely, they do this regularly! Home Depot and Lowe's can help with that without a problem, especially if you bring in the code or even a small sample of the paint.

Yeah, for darker shades, you’re likely to get a pretty spot-on match. Just don’t expect perfection with lighter shades, they can be a bit off.
