Can I Add More Panels to My Existing Solar Setup with Powerwall 3?

I recently installed a small solar array with a Powerwall 3 (PW3) because I figured a larger system wouldn't pay off for a long time. While this setup was professionally done, I'm aware it won't fully cover my power usage. I consider myself handy and have some electrical knowledge, so I'm thinking about adding more solar panels myself. Is it as simple as getting the same or similarly rated panels and wiring them into the existing array? Do I need to change any inverter settings in the Powerwall, or are there additional steps I should be aware of? Thanks for any insights!

If you're planning to extend your setup, it's best to stick with the same type of panels as the existing ones, especially if you’re adding to an already established string. However, if your Powerwall has unused inputs, then you could use different panels without matching them exactly. Just make sure all strings comply with the Powerwall's limits. Also, depending on where you live, local codes may require residual solar disconnect (RSD) devices. And don't forget to check if utility companies will allow this upgrade!

I want to avoid pulling extra cables down to the Powerwall. If I use matching panels, can I just connect the new ones to the old ones on the roof without messing with anything else?
