Can I Add More Solar Panels to My SunRun System without Voiding the Contract?

I currently have a solar system installed by SunRun and I'm considering buying additional solar panels of the same brand to increase my energy production. I'm curious if adding these panels would void my existing contract with them or if I would need to sign a new agreement to make this change. Has anyone had experience with this?

Honestly, it might be best to just set up a separate system instead. Leasing has its downsides, and mixing things could complicate what you already have.

If you want to go ahead and add panels, just know that you shouldn't modify a leased system. Your best bet is to talk to SunRun about increasing the system’s capacity or consider independently installing a new system to handle your extra load.

Thanks for the clarification!

You'll likely need to get permission from SunRun before adding anything. They have a contract for a reason, and making alterations without their say-so is a no-go. Just reach out to them and see what options are available for expanding your setup.
