Hey everyone! I had this beautiful wildflower garden in spring, but now it's looking messy as the blossoms fade and what remains looks a lot like weeds. ? I'm considering planting some pansy seeds to keep things going, but I'm not sure if that will mess up the wildflowers that are dying off. Some of the flowers are annuals and some are perennials. What's the best way to manage a wildflower bed that's on its way out? I appreciate any tips! Thanks!

It really depends on your location! Pansies thrive in cooler weather, so if you’re in a hotter region like the American South, they might struggle right now. They’re pretty harmless, though, and come spring, they can reseed themselves. Instead of just pansies, you might want to think about adding some native plants that bloom later in the season. Here in Vermont, I’ve got Wild Bergamot and Liatris blooming now, but if you're further south, those might already be finished. What do you have growing this spring?
You could definitely do that! Just make sure the new seeds won't compete too much with the perennials you want to keep. Have you checked out the native plants for your area? They might work well!

I’m in zone 6b and definitely have gaps where the flowers died off. Would it be a bad idea to pull out the dead plants and sow the new seeds in those spots while leaving the healthy ones alone?
