I'm curious about the possibility of adding solar panels to a leased solar system. I think it might be doable, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Typically, you shouldn't add panels to a leased system. While it might be technically possible, it's likely against the lease agreement. The leasing company owns the system, so any changes you make without their written permission could lead to penalties. They might want to restore your setup to its original state, and there could be issues with home insurance or local regulations too. Best to contact your leasing company if you need more capacity instead of doing any modifications yourself.

What if I set up another inverter and just added panels? If they already have a net energy metering agreement, wouldn't that go unnoticed unless they send someone to inspect?
