Hey folks! I'm new here and not too savvy with electronics. I'm thinking about giving an old alarm clock a makeover for my nightstand since I only have one outlet available and I'm not keen on using a splitter. I've been considering adding a wireless charging coil inside the clock. I know it's a bit of a vague question since I don't have the clock on hand to check its insides, but I'm curious if this is feasible. Has anyone tried something like this? If there's enough space inside the clock, it should work without a problem. Just be cautious about working with anything that connects to a wall outlet. If you're not that experienced, I wouldn’t recommend messing with high-voltage AC. I've done DC for a while, but I still steer clear of AC projects unless I’m sure. Make sure you have a multimeter, soldering iron, and solder on hand!
You can definitely add a wireless charging coil to your alarm clock! You can find wireless charging kits on Amazon. The key is to power it from the clock's power cord and mount the coil on the underside of the clock's top cover. Usually, a 5-volt AC adapter wired into the clock's line should do the trick. Just be careful; you’ll be dealing with mains voltage, so safety is super important!
