Can I attach a wooden top to MDF cabinets?

I'm considering buying MDF cabinets for a wall-to-wall TV setup (like the Ikea Besta) and want to add a wooden board as a countertop that runs along the entire wall. Is this a good idea? Will it be stable? How can I effectively attach the wooden top to the MDF cabinets?

Yeah, attaching a wooden top to MDF cabinets can totally work! Just drill oversized holes in the tops of the cabinets for the screws. This allows the wood to expand and contract without cracking or damaging your cabinets. Just make sure the hole is still smaller than the screw head or use washers to keep everything secure. It's a solid plan!

That makes sense! But how do I get the screws in from inside the cabinets without struggling? Would threaded inserts work instead, or should I use L-brackets to attach the wood from the back and sides?
