Hey everyone! I've got some old peonies in my garden and I'm curious if there's a chance to bring them back to life. They had a few leaves last year and one managed to bloom, but I'm not sure how much longer they can last. I have no clue how old they are or how long they've been in the ground, but I want to do my best to revive them, if possible. Any tips?

Definitely check if your peonies are planted too deep. If they're too buried, they might just struggle with leaves but no blooms. I recommend clearing around them to improve airflow and give them a good fertilizing. That could make a huge difference!
Thanks for the tip! They’re pretty close to the surface because of some soil erosion. I’m hopeful this advice will help them thrive again!
You have two choices: find a peony sanctuary that can take care of them or dig them out and honestly, just let them go.
You might want to try adding some fish, blood and bone meal in mulch around them or use chicken manure pellets to enrich the soil. Planting some new peonies nearby could also be a great idea!
Great suggestion! When do you think I should apply the chicken manure and fish meal?
Consider cutting a few stems back to ground level to help focus energy on fewer stems for now. If they show strong growth in about a year, trim any messy ones to encourage bushiness later on.
Thanks! I’ll definitely monitor what comes up this year. I also plan on clearing some space around them since they've been shaded quite a bit.
Absolutely! If they're quite congested, you could divide them. Replant some back in the same spot and move the others. Just be ready, they can be tough to dig up!
