Can I Connect My Exercise Bike to a PC for Motivation?

I've been thinking about shedding some extra weight and remembered my exercise bike, but I tend to get distracted while using it and end up slowing down. The bike has this head unit that tracks my speed, distance, and calories. It's got a 3.5mm jack with three rings. I had this quirky idea: could I connect it to my PC? My goal is to set it up so that if I stop pedaling for more than 7 seconds, or I fall below 20 km/h, it triggers a warning. Is this possible?

You could totally do this! A simple solution would be to use an Arduino setup, specifically an ESP32 with a 3.5mm jack module. This could read the signals from your bike and you could send commands to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. It's a fun little project and would definitely help keep you motivated!
