Hey everyone! I'm really new to gardening and I'm wondering if I can turn this part of my backyard into a vegetable garden. I have a similar area in the front yard that I'd like to use for flowers. I recently bought a starter kit for germinating some veggies and would love any advice you can offer. I live in Tennessee, and the weather is starting to warm up. Thanks for any tips! I've included some photos for reference: [link](https://imgur.com/a/BgfjtQ4).

It sounds like you’re on the right track! Definitely check out the TN Extension website for some great resources on vegetable gardening specific to your area. They have guides that will help you with everything from soil prep to planting times.
What type of soil do you have there? Knowing if it’s sandy, clay, or something else will help in choosing the right plants. If you’re unsure, it might be worth getting a soil test done. If it looks like there’s mulch, that could help with retaining moisture as you start planting your veggies.

I think it’s mostly mulch with some rocks and bricks outlining the area. It seems pretty open and gets sunlight.
